Jillian L., Katelyn E., Leah J., and Kassie K. participated in the Women in Science Conference at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. One hundred students from across Nebraska, representing 26 high schools, attended the Conference on March 31 – April 1, 2023. Students had an opportunity to meet female role models in science-related careers. Female scientists and students from the University volunteered to serve as panelists, give workshops, labs, and mentor conference participants. The students heard from panelists and successful female science faculty, who described their career paths and how to prepare for a science career. Highlights of the conference included a tour of the Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts, STEM-related labs and workshops with hands-on activities, and visits with UNL faculty, undergraduates, and graduate women students in science-related areas of study.
