Superintendent

Rick Masters

I grew up in Dodge City, Kansas where my parents were both teachers. My mother was a 1st grade teacher and my father a PE teacher and head football coach. I played high school football for my father and also participated in basketball and track. My high school mascot was the Red Demons so transitioning to the Blue Devils was quite easy for me. I attended Dodge City Community College for two years and received an Associate of Arts degree and I also continued to play football. I graduated from Fort Hays State University with a degree in Business Finance and finished my football playing career. Out of college I took a job as a bank examiner with the FDIC. A few years later I went back to school at FHSU where I earned a business education degree. I became a business teacher and coach at Hays High School in Kansas. I then took a job as a principal in a small rural school in Kansas, Ashland Jr.-Sr. High School. After three years here I accepted a position with Kearney Public Schools as an assistant principal. I served Kearney for fifteen years in this position before accepting the superintendent position in Kenesaw. I have loved my first year in Kenesaw. The kids, teachers, school, and community have been outstanding.

I have been married to my wife Laura for the past 25 years. Laura is a Radiation Therapist at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. We have three children, Cody, Emilee, and Cale. I enjoy fish, hunting, training our hunting dogs, gardening and almost all sporting events.
