On Thursday, September 26th  the 5th & 6th Grade traveled to Liberty Cove near Lawrence, NE, and learned a lot about one of Nebraska’s most valuable natural resources, water.  We did many different activities that showed where our water comes from and what we need to do to protect this valuable resource.  In one of the stations, students saw what effect rivers could have with erosion and the spreading of pollutants down stream.  Students also went on a scavenger hunt locating and identifying some of Nebraska’s plants and grasses.  They also saw what impact changing habitats could have on animals that depend on them to survive.  In one of the most exciting stations, they collected water samples from the lake to examine all the different organisms that lived in it.
